What is the MG4?
The MG4 is a fully electric compact hatchback for everyday journeys and family use. Its familiar hatchback shape gives it a practical role in MG’s range, alongside the brand’s SUVs and smaller cars.
MG began as Morris Garages in Oxford in 1924 and became known for sportier cars. The MG4 reflects the marque’s electric direction: it was the first MG model in Europe built on the MSP platform, developed by parent company SAIC Motor for electric vehicles.
MG4 generation
The MG4’s first generation arrived in 2022 and continues today. Its launch brought MG into the compact electric hatchback segment in Europe, using the dedicated MSP platform as its foundation.
Engines and power
Every MG4 version in the EU and UK listings is electric, so there is no engine size or fuel consumption figure in litres per 100 km. EU versions from 2022 to 2025 range from 54 kW (73 PS) to 320 kW (435 PS). In the UK, versions from 2023 to 2026 range from 110 kW (150 PS) to 435 kW (591 PS).
EU registration figures record 109,665 MG4s from 2022 to 2025. The most registered outputs were 150 kW (204 PS) in 2023, 125 kW (170 PS) in 2023, and 150 kW (204 PS) in 2024.
Where was the MG4 sold?
The MG4 appears in EU and UK listings. Electric cars do not have a petrol-style consumption value or tailpipe CO₂ figure in these summaries. European test procedures include WLTP and NEDC; US EPA and Canadian 5-cycle ratings use different methods, so their efficiency figures are not directly comparable.
