What is the Lordstown Endurance?

The Endurance was a full-size electric pickup developed by Lordstown Motors for the US market, with commercial fleets in mind. It was the company’s first model, designed as a work truck with a conventional pickup body and an electric drivetrain.

A distinctive feature was its four in-wheel motors, one at each wheel. Lordstown partnered with Foxconn to manufacture the truck at the former General Motors assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio.

Generations, engines and power

The Endurance had no separate generations. Its only recorded model year was 2023, and its sole version was electric. It had no combustion engine or engine displacement; four in-wheel motors drove the wheels.

Lordstown positioned the Endurance as a fleet-focused pickup. Its electric powertrain and familiar truck layout were intended to combine work-truck utility with battery-electric drive.

Fuel consumption and emissions

The Endurance was listed in US EPA figures for 2023. The EPA reports electric vehicle efficiency in miles per gallon equivalent, or MPGe, as well as energy use and driving range. EPA testing differs from WLTP and NEDC procedures used in Europe and the five-cycle procedure used in Canada.

As a battery-electric vehicle, the Endurance produces no tailpipe CO₂ while driving. Emissions associated with charging depend on how the electricity is generated.

Where was the Endurance sold?

The Endurance was listed for the United States, with 2023 as its recorded model year. Lordstown developed it as a commercial fleet pickup.
