What is the Bugatti Veyron?

The Veyron is a two-seat hyper sports car that marked Bugatti’s return to modern car production at its historic home in Molsheim, France. It came as a coupé and as an open-top Grand Sport, with performance-focused versions including the Super Sport and Grand Sport Vitesse. Its blend of speed and a carefully finished cabin helped shape Bugatti’s modern identity.

Ettore Bugatti founded the company in 1909. The Veyron brought the marque’s Molsheim roots into a new era, with the familiar horseshoe grille and a distinctive rounded body.

Veyron generations

The Veyron has one generation, spanning 2006 to 2015. The range grew to include the open-top Grand Sport and more powerful Super Sport and Grand Sport Vitesse. Across its versions, the Veyron kept its 8.0-litre W16 engine with four turbochargers and all-wheel drive.

Engines and power

The Veyron has an 8.0-litre petrol engine. The EU-listed 2014 version produces 882 kW (1,199 PS). Other Veyron versions had different outputs, so that figure applies to the specific EU-listed version.
