What is the Audi 5000?

The Audi 5000 was the name used in the United States for the C3 Audi 100, a large saloon positioned above the maker’s smaller models. Its smooth, aerodynamic shape became a hallmark of this generation. The four rings on the grille recall the four German carmakers that joined to form Auto Union, Audi’s predecessor.

Audi 5000 generation

The C3 (Typ 44) generation ran from 1984–1988 in the United States. Its low, flowing profile gave it a distinctive look, while the four-door saloon body offered space for everyday journeys and longer trips.
