What it means
Disable feedback line A voltage above expected range. A communication loss with this module breaks any function relying on its data — diagnostic tools may show 'no response' and dependent modules can fall into limp mode.
At a glance
- Usually lights the warning light of the system that lost communication
How it works
The disable feedback line tells the gateway whether Control Module A has entered or left its requested safe state. This code means feedback voltage is above the expected range, often because the line is shorted to battery voltage, making the module's reported state unreliable.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Wiring shorted to battery
- Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly
- CAN terminating resistor (120 Ω) drifted out of spec
Symptoms
- Multiple warning lights may illuminate
- Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
- Specific functions inoperative depending on module
- Diagnostic tools may show communication faults
How to diagnose it
- Record all module codes and freeze-frame details, looking for related high-voltage and communication faults.
- Use a scan tool to compare the gateway's disable command with Control Module A's reported feedback state and check module response.
- Inspect the feedback-line harness for damaged insulation, pinching, or contact with a powered circuit.
- Following the manufacturer's isolation procedure, measure feedback-line voltage and test for a short to battery voltage.
- If the feedback wiring passes, check gateway status handling and CAN termination against the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Repair feedback wiring or a connector that is shorted to battery voltage.
- Secure the harness away from powered circuits.
- Correct a confirmed gateway routing or status-handling fault.
- Repair CAN termination if testing confirms it is out of specification.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid driving if a module has shut down, the vehicle has entered limp mode, or essential functions are unreliable. Otherwise, keep trips short because the gateway may misread whether Control Module A has entered its safe state.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
