What it means
The charge port door B open request switch reports a circuit performance condition. Operator request for charge port unlocking is unreliable.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Door B’s open-request switch sends the charging system controller a signal when the driver asks to open that charge-port door. The controller sets P2E94 when the signal’s performance is outside the expected pattern, even if it is not consistently stuck low or high.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Switch failed
- Wiring fault
Symptoms
- Charge status indicator shows fault
- Charging may not start or interrupts
- Slower-than-expected charge rate
How to diagnose it
- Read freeze-frame data and live data for Door B’s open-request switch while operating the request, and check whether the reported state follows each press and release.
- Inspect Door B’s switch and nearby wiring for damage, moisture, loose connections, or a switch that sticks.
- Check the switch connector and terminals for poor fit, contamination, or corrosion that could distort the signal.
- Measure the switch circuit while pressing and releasing it, and compare the signal with the manufacturer’s specification.
- If the switch signal and wiring test correctly, check the controller’s input and related faults before replacing parts.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure the Door B switch connector.
- Repair damaged or poorly connected switch wiring.
- Replace a sticking or electrically inconsistent Door B open-request switch.
- Repair the controller connection if testing identifies an input fault.
Can I keep driving?
You can usually drive the vehicle if it operates normally, but Door B may not unlock reliably and charging could be delayed or interrupted. Arrange charging with enough range in reserve and avoid relying on this port until the request works consistently.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
