OBD-II fault code

P0CCA: Charge Port Door Open Request Switch Circuit High

What it means

The charge port door A open request switch circuit high reports a fault. Operator request for charge port unlocking is unreliable.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The charge port door A open-request switch tells the module when the driver requests release. This code sets when the input voltage stays above its expected range, such as from a signal wire shorted to battery voltage or a switch that remains open.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wire shorted to B+
  2. Switch stuck open
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Charge status indicator shows fault
  • Charging may not start or interrupts
  • Slower-than-expected charge rate

How to diagnose it

  1. Read freeze-frame data and watch the door A request input on a scan tool while pressing and releasing the switch; note whether it stays inactive or high.
  2. Inspect the switch for damage or a mechanism that prevents the contacts from closing when operated.
  3. Check the connector and harness for corrosion, loose pins, and a signal wire contacting a battery-positive feed.
  4. With the wiring diagram, disconnect the switch and see whether the high input remains, helping separate a switch fault from a harness short.
  5. Test switch operation and circuit continuity against the manufacturer's specification, then check the module input if the circuit tests correctly.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure the switch connector or repair corroded terminals.
  • Repair a signal wire shorted to battery voltage.
  • Replace a switch that fails to close when pressed.
  • Repair the module input circuit if the switch and wiring pass testing.

Can I keep driving?

Driving is generally possible if the charge port door is closed and secure, but the door may not unlock when needed and charging may be unavailable. Avoid forcing the door or latch.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
