What it means
The ECM detects a circuit high fault on the particulate filter pressure sensor c. Reading cannot be used reliably for control.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
Particulate filter pressure sensor C reports pressure to the control module for filter-loading and regeneration decisions. This code sets when sensor C’s signal circuit is higher than expected, which can result from a wire shorted to battery power or an open sensor path.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to B+
- Open sensor
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check engine light or DPF warning light on
- Power loss / limp mode
- Increased fuel consumption
- Failed forced regeneration attempts
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and inspect sensor C live data for a reading fixed high or inconsistent with engine conditions.
- Inspect sensor C’s connector and harness for a signal wire contacting a power feed, an open circuit, corrosion, or heat damage.
- Check sensor C’s supply, ground, and signal circuits against the manufacturer’s specification and wiring diagram.
- With the sensor disconnected, test the signal wire for a short to battery power and check the harness for an open.
- If the harness checks out, test sensor C itself using the manufacturer’s procedure for a high signal.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure corroded or loose sensor C connector terminals.
- Repair the signal wire short to power or the open circuit in sensor C’s harness.
- Repair a failed ground or supply connection identified by circuit testing.
- Replace sensor C if it still produces a high signal with verified wiring.
Can I keep driving?
If the vehicle has lost power or shows a DPF warning, limit driving and avoid heavy loads until the fault is corrected. A false pressure reading can interfere with regeneration and allow filter restriction to increase.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
