OBD-II fault code

P2C47: Battery Isolation/Voltage Stabilization Control Circuit Intermittent

What it means

The battery isolation/voltage stabilization module reports a control circuit intermittent condition. Power supply quality during start/stop or load shedding is impaired.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The battery isolation or voltage stabilization module helps steady electrical supply during start-stop operation and load shedding. P2C47 sets when the control-circuit signal or module response cuts in and out instead of remaining consistent, often as a loose connection or ground disturbance changes with vibration.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Module connector not seated
  2. Noisy ground reference
  3. Connector with intermittent contact under vibration

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light or hybrid-system warning light
  • Intermittent electrical or start-stop system warnings
  • Unusual dimming or flickering of electrical accessories

How to diagnose it

  1. Check freeze-frame data and live module data for dropouts, and note whether the fault coincides with starting, load changes, or vehicle movement.
  2. Inspect that the module connector is fully seated and look for loose pins, corrosion, harness strain, or rubbed insulation.
  3. Check the module ground and ground reference for looseness or unstable contact under the conditions described by the driver.
  4. Monitor the control circuit while carefully moving the harness and connector to locate an intermittent open or contact fault.
  5. If the circuit stays stable, use the manufacturer's procedure to determine whether the module itself loses response intermittently.

Common fixes

  • Fully seat and secure the module connector.
  • Clean or repair loose, corroded, or damaged terminals.
  • Repair chafed wiring or a poor ground connection.
  • Replace the module if its intermittent response is confirmed with stable wiring and connections.

Can I keep driving?

If warnings or flickering recur with bumps or load changes, limit driving because the electrical supply may become unpredictable and reduced-power operation is possible. Stop if essential systems flicker, warning lights multiply, or the vehicle's behavior changes.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
