OBD-II fault code

P2A15: Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control C High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)

What it means

The control signal for injection pump metering channel C is above the expected window. Wire shorted to B+ or actuator open.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Channel C is a fuel-metering control path in the injection pump, identified by the vehicle maker as a cam, rotor, or injector path. The control module monitors its electrical signal; a signal above the expected window sets P2A15, which can interfere with fuel delivery and produce rough running.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Control wire shorted to B+
  2. Open metering actuator

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light
  • Rough running
  • Reduced power

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check live data for channel C to see when its control signal rises above the expected window.
  2. Inspect the channel C connector and harness for damaged insulation or contact with a battery-positive supply.
  3. Use the manufacturer's wiring information to test whether the channel C control wire is shorted to B+.
  4. Test the channel C metering actuator and its circuit for an open, following the manufacturer's procedure.
  5. Clear the code after repair and confirm the channel C signal and engine operation remain normal.

Common fixes

  • Repair wiring that has shorted the channel C control circuit to B+.
  • Repair loose, corroded, or damaged terminals at the channel C connector.
  • Replace the channel C metering actuator if it is confirmed open.

Can I keep driving?

Limit driving because channel C's electrical fault can cause rough running and reduced power; avoid high-speed or heavy-load driving. Stop if power loss makes the vehicle difficult to control, as continued operation can worsen drivability and emissions.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
