What it means
Voltage on the air cleaner inlet valve control line is below the expected window. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The controller drives the air cleaner inlet valve solenoid to switch the intake path, including warm-air routing where fitted. P2676 sets when the control line voltage is too low, which can happen if the wire is grounded, the solenoid is internally shorted, or a connection has excessive resistance.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Control wire shorted to ground
- Internal short in solenoid coil
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Poor cold-start performance
How to diagnose it
- Read freeze-frame data and check whether P2676 is current; note whether the inlet valve was commanded during the fault.
- Inspect the inlet solenoid connector and harness for chafing to ground, moisture, corrosion, pushed-back pins, or loose terminals.
- With the circuit active and monitored safely, gently move the harness near the connector and watch whether the circuit reading changes.
- Disconnect the solenoid and check whether the low reading remains on the control wire, which helps separate a wiring short from an internally shorted coil.
- Test the solenoid and control circuit against the manufacturer's specification, including continuity to ground and connector contact condition.
Common fixes
- Repair a control wire shorted to ground or damaged by chafing.
- Clean or repair corroded, loose, or pushed-back connector terminals.
- Replace an air cleaner inlet solenoid with an internal short.
- Repair a controller circuit fault only after verifying the solenoid and wiring.
Can I keep driving?
The code generally affects inlet switching and cold-start behavior, so a normally running engine can usually be driven gently. Poor cold starts or longer warm-up may persist; avoid relying on the vehicle in conditions where a dependable cold start is essential.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
