OBD-II fault code

P2674: Injection Pump Fuel Calibration Not Learned

What it means

The injection pump fuel quantity calibration did not complete successfully. Without learned fuel calibration, AFR runs from default tables and emissions or smoke can rise.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test

How it works

The engine control module learns how the injection pump's fuel quantity solenoid delivers fuel so it can refine fueling beyond its default tables. P2674 sets when that fuel quantity calibration routine does not complete, which can leave fueling less accurate and increase smoke or emissions.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Learning routine aborted by other DTC or unstable conditions
  2. Fuel quantity solenoid drift outside learning window

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light
  • Rough running
  • Increased exhaust smoke

How to diagnose it

  1. Read freeze-frame data and check for other active fuel-system or engine codes that may have interrupted fuel quantity learning.
  2. Confirm the battery and engine operating conditions meet the manufacturer's requirements for the calibration routine.
  3. Inspect the injection pump fuel quantity solenoid connector and wiring for looseness, corrosion, chafing, or damage.
  4. Use a scan tool to run the fuel quantity learning routine and note whether the solenoid calibration falls outside its learning window.
  5. Test the fuel quantity solenoid and its circuit to the manufacturer's specification; if they pass, investigate pump condition and fueling stability.

Common fixes

  • Resolve active faults or unstable conditions that are preventing fuel quantity learning.
  • Clean or repair a loose, corroded, or damaged fuel quantity solenoid connection or wire.
  • Replace a fuel quantity solenoid that fails the manufacturer's electrical or functional checks.
  • Repair an injection pump fault that prevents calibration, then repeat the learning routine.

Can I keep driving?

Limit driving if the engine runs roughly or produces noticeable smoke, and avoid heavy loads because poor fueling can increase emissions and may worsen running problems. If smoke is heavy or the engine is hard to control, stop driving and arrange diagnosis.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
