OBD-II fault code

P2675: Air Cleaner Inlet Control Circuit / Open

What it means

The controller cannot drive the air cleaner inlet control valve (warm-air or snorkel switching for cold-start emissions). Stuck in default position so cold-start fueling is sub-optimal.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The air cleaner inlet control solenoid switches the intake between its available inlet paths, such as a warm-air path used to support cold-start operation. The controller monitors the solenoid circuit and sets P2675 when it detects an open circuit, so it cannot command the inlet valve as intended.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Open coil in inlet valve solenoid
  2. Broken control wire

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light
  • Poor cold-start performance
  • Longer warm-up

How to diagnose it

  1. Read freeze-frame data and note whether the fault occurred during a cold start, when inlet switching may be commanded.
  2. Inspect the air cleaner inlet valve and its connector for a disconnected plug, damaged pins, water, or visible wire breaks.
  3. Trace the inlet control wiring from the solenoid toward the controller and look for breaks, chafing, or previous repairs.
  4. With the circuit safely isolated, check the solenoid coil and wiring for continuity against the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If the wiring and coil pass, check the controller's output and command for the inlet valve using the vehicle's wiring information.

Common fixes

  • Reconnect a loose air cleaner inlet solenoid connector.
  • Repair a broken or damaged control wire in the inlet valve circuit.
  • Replace an inlet control solenoid with an open coil.
  • Repair a failed controller output only after confirming the solenoid and wiring are sound.

Can I keep driving?

This fault usually affects cold-start performance and warm-up rather than immediate engine safety. Drive gently if the engine runs normally, but address it before repeated cold starts become difficult.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
