OBD-II fault code

P25F2: Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor C Circuit

What it means

The Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor C circuit has a fault. The code does not establish that a third boost sensor is fitted or that boost control is operating open-loop.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

This code identifies a fault in the electrical circuit for turbocharger or supercharger boost sensor C. The module has detected a circuit problem, but the code does not confirm that the vehicle has three boost sensors or reveal whether the signal is open, shorted, or otherwise faulty.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Open sensor element or broken signal wire
  2. Corroded connector at sensor pigtail

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Significant power loss / limp mode
  • Possible blue or black smoke from exhaust
  • Whistling or hissing sound from intake

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and review live data for boost sensor C alongside any other boost readings, noting whether its signal is missing or implausible.
  2. Inspect the sensor C pigtail and connector for corrosion, loose terminals, damaged seals, or a broken signal wire.
  3. Check the harness from sensor C toward the module for breaks, chafing, or shorts, especially where it passes near hot or moving parts.
  4. Test sensor C power, ground, and signal circuits using the wiring diagram and manufacturer's specifications.
  5. If the wiring and supplies pass, test or substitute sensor C only according to the vehicle maker's procedure, then verify the reading under the conditions in the freeze frame.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure corroded or loose terminals at boost sensor C.
  • Repair a broken signal wire or damaged sensor pigtail.
  • Replace boost sensor C if its element fails the specified circuit test.
  • Repair a confirmed module-side circuit fault after checking the sensor and wiring.

Can I keep driving?

Power loss can make merging or overtaking unsafe, so avoid heavy acceleration and keep to a route where you can stop safely. If the engine smokes heavily, makes a new intake hiss, or loses power sharply, stop driving and have it checked.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
