What it means
The ECM detects a circuit fault on the hybrid/ev battery pack e voltage sensor circuit. Reading cannot be used reliably for control.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The BMS uses the voltage sensor assigned to battery pack E to monitor that section of the high-voltage battery. P0ED2 sets when the circuit signal is faulty or unavailable, so the control system cannot reliably use that reading.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Sensor failed
- Wiring or connector fault
- Pack cell imbalance approaching service threshold
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced power output or limp mode
- Charging may fail or be slowed
- Reduced electric range
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and scan for related battery or hybrid codes, since other sensor-circuit faults may help locate a shared wiring or pack issue.
- Check live data for the pack E voltage reading and compare it with adjacent pack readings under similar conditions.
- With the high-voltage system safely disabled by the manufacturer's procedure, inspect the pack E sensor connector and harness for damage, corrosion, looseness, or water intrusion.
- Test the pack E sensor circuit for continuity, shorts, and excessive resistance using the manufacturer's wiring diagram and specifications.
- If the circuit checks out, have the sensor and the associated cell-group voltage tested to distinguish a failed sensor from cell imbalance.
Common fixes
- Reseat and clean a loose or corroded pack E sensor connector as permitted by the service procedure.
- Repair damaged or high-resistance wiring in the pack E sensing circuit.
- Replace a failed pack E voltage sensor.
- Address confirmed cell-group imbalance according to the manufacturer's pack service procedure.
Can I keep driving?
Keep trips short and avoid heavy acceleration because the vehicle may reduce power, charging, or electric range. Stop safely if a stop warning appears or the vehicle loses drive, and arrange recovery rather than opening the battery pack.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
