OBD-II fault code

P094E: Hydraulic Pump Supply Voltage Circuit/Open

What it means

The hydraulic pump reports a supply voltage circuit/open condition. Pump operation is impaired.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The hydraulic pump needs an electrical supply to run, and the control module monitors whether that supply circuit is available. P094E sets when the pump supply circuit is open or voltage is not reaching the pump as expected, potentially leaving the transmission without the pressure support it needs.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Open in supply wire
  2. Supply fuse blown
  3. Pin pushed back out of connector body

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Capture freeze-frame data and check pump command and status to confirm the fault occurred while the module requested pump operation.
  2. Inspect the pump supply fuse and wiring for a break, damage, corrosion, or a connector terminal pushed back into its housing.
  3. Check the pump connector seating and terminal condition, paying particular attention to the supply pin and its retention.
  4. Using the vehicle wiring diagram, test the supply path from the fuse to the pump for continuity and unwanted voltage drop.
  5. If the supply path is intact, check the pump ground and control side according to the manufacturer's specification.

Common fixes

  • Reseat the pump connector and secure any backed-out terminal.
  • Repair an open or damaged supply wire.
  • Replace a blown fuse after locating and correcting the cause.
  • Repair a poor pump ground or connector contact.

Can I keep driving?

Avoid driving if shifting is delayed, absent, slipping, or the transmission enters limp mode; the pump may not be able to maintain hydraulic pressure. If the vehicle still shifts normally, keep any trip short and avoid heavy loads until the supply fault is repaired.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
