What it means
Auto Configuration Throttle Input Not Present Bank 1: the control module has detected this fault condition.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
During automatic configuration, the control module checks for a throttle-position input on Bank 1. P063E sets when that input is missing, so the module may not be able to confirm throttle position for engine control.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Throttle input signal absent during automatic configuration
- Open or shorted throttle-input wiring
- Disconnected or faulty throttle-position sensor
- Poor connector contact or sensor reference voltage
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Possible limp mode or no-start
- Multiple follow-up faults across modules
- Reset/relearn may be needed after repair
How to diagnose it
- Use a scan tool to review freeze-frame data and compare the Bank 1 throttle-position reading with other throttle data during the fault.
- Inspect the Bank 1 throttle-position sensor connector and nearby wiring for disconnection, corrosion, damaged pins, or chafing.
- Check the sensor reference and ground circuits against the manufacturer's specification, since a missing supply or ground can make the throttle signal disappear.
- Measure the Bank 1 throttle signal circuit for an open or short while moving the harness gently to expose an intermittent connection.
- If wiring and sensor readings are sound, check module data and configuration, then perform the manufacturer's required relearn after repairs.
Common fixes
- Reconnect and secure the Bank 1 throttle-position sensor connector.
- Repair damaged or open throttle-input wiring and terminals.
- Restore the sensor reference or ground connection if it is missing.
- Replace the Bank 1 throttle-position sensor if its signal remains absent with sound wiring.
- Complete the required throttle configuration or relearn after the fault is corrected.
Can I keep driving?
If the engine enters limp mode, stalls, or will not start, avoid driving and arrange a repair because throttle response may be unreliable. If it runs normally, limit driving and avoid heavy traffic until the missing Bank 1 input is fixed.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
