OBD-II fault code

P26FF: Auto Configuration Throttle Input Not Present Bank 2

What it means

During controller auto-configuration the expected throttle input on bank 2 was not detected. Configuration cannot complete and the second throttle path cannot be used.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

During setup, the powertrain controller checks whether the bank 2 throttle input is available for the vehicle's configured hardware. This code means the expected input from that second-bank throttle path was not detected, so auto-configuration cannot enable it.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Broken signal wire from throttle B2
  2. Hardware variant mismatch — sensor not installed

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light may be on
  • Engine may have reduced performance or an unstable idle
  • Throttle-related warning may appear

How to diagnose it

  1. Save the scan-tool freeze-frame and configuration data, then check whether the vehicle is expected to have a bank 2 throttle sensor.
  2. Inspect the bank 2 throttle sensor connector and harness for disconnection, damage, corrosion, or a broken signal wire.
  3. Compare the installed throttle hardware and its connectors with the vehicle's configuration to identify a variant mismatch.
  4. With the wiring diagram, check continuity of the bank 2 signal wire and inspect its connections at the sensor and controller.
  5. If the hardware and wiring match, use the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure to check the input at the controller and determine why auto-configuration does not recognize it.

Common fixes

  • Reconnect a loose bank 2 throttle sensor connector.
  • Repair a damaged or broken bank 2 signal wire.
  • Correct a hardware or configuration mismatch so the expected bank 2 sensor is present and recognized.
  • Repair a faulty sensor or controller input only after circuit testing identifies it.

Can I keep driving?

If the engine idles unpredictably or has reduced throttle response, avoid hard acceleration and drive only as needed to reach a safe place for diagnosis. A missing bank 2 throttle input can limit engine control or make performance unreliable.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
