OBD-II fault code

C052E: ABS Pump Motor Control Circuit Low

What it means

The ABS module detected a low voltage condition in the pump motor control circuit.

How it works

The ABS module controls the pump motor through an electrical circuit and monitors its voltage during operation. C052E sets when the control circuit voltage is lower than expected, which can result from a short to ground, damaged chafed wiring, or a poor connector contact.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wiring shorted to ground
  2. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
  3. Harness chafing through insulation

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • Traction or stability control warning light on
  • ABS functions may be limited

How to diagnose it

  1. Read ABS codes and freeze-frame data to see whether the low-voltage fault occurs with other pump motor or supply faults.
  2. Inspect the pump motor harness for chafing, exposed conductors, or damage that could let the control wire contact ground.
  3. Check the pump motor connector and terminals for corrosion, looseness, or heat damage.
  4. Measure the control circuit and check for a short to ground using the manufacturer’s wiring diagram and procedure.
  5. If the wiring and connector are sound, follow the manufacturer’s diagnostic procedure to test the ABS module’s control output.

Common fixes

  • Repair chafed pump motor wiring that is shorted to ground.
  • Repair or replace a damaged connector or terminal causing excessive contact resistance.
  • Restore any faulty circuit supply or ground connection identified by testing.
  • Repair or replace the ABS control module if its output is confirmed faulty.

Can I keep driving?

ABS may be limited or unavailable, though conventional braking may still work. Drive cautiously, leave extra stopping distance, and avoid hard braking or slippery roads; stop if the brake pedal or braking response changes.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
