What it means
The ABS module detected a high voltage condition in the pump motor control circuit.
How it works
The ABS module controls the pump motor through an electrical circuit and monitors the voltage on that circuit. C052D sets when the module detects voltage higher than expected on the pump motor control circuit, which can point to a short to battery, a pinched supply wire, or a poor connector contact.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Wiring shorted to battery
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- Traction or stability control warning light on
- ABS functions may be limited
How to diagnose it
- Read ABS codes and freeze-frame data to check whether the high-voltage fault appears with other pump motor circuit faults.
- With the vehicle safely powered down as directed by the manufacturer, inspect the pump motor harness for pinching, damaged insulation, or contact with a battery-positive source.
- Inspect the pump motor connector and terminals for corrosion, looseness, or heat damage that could create poor contact.
- Measure the control circuit condition using the manufacturer’s wiring diagram and procedure to determine where voltage is higher than specified.
- If the harness and connector test correctly, follow the manufacturer’s diagnostic steps to check the ABS module output.
Common fixes
- Repair wiring pinched against a battery-positive source.
- Repair damaged insulation or a short to battery in the pump motor control harness.
- Clean, repair, or replace corroded or damaged connector terminals.
- Repair or replace the ABS control module if its output is confirmed faulty.
Can I keep driving?
ABS functions may be limited, although conventional braking may remain available. Drive cautiously and leave extra stopping distance; avoid hard braking and stop if braking feels abnormal.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
