OBD-II fault code

C052F: ABS Pump Motor Supply Voltage Circuit/Open

What it means

The ABS module monitors the pump motor supply voltage circuit and sets this code when it detects an open circuit.

How it works

The ABS hydraulic control unit uses an electric pump motor to build brake pressure for ABS operation. The ABS module monitors the motor's supply feed and sets C052F when it detects that the feed is electrically open, so the pump may not receive power when needed.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Blown supply fuse
  2. Open or damaged supply wiring
  3. Loose or damaged connector

Symptoms

  • ABS warning light on
  • Traction or stability control warning light on
  • ABS functions may be limited

How to diagnose it

  1. Use an ABS-capable scan tool to record freeze-frame data and check whether C052F is current or intermittent before clearing it.
  2. Check the ABS pump supply fuse and its terminals for a blown element, heat damage, or poor contact.
  3. Inspect the pump motor supply wiring and connector for breaks, looseness, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.
  4. With the wiring diagram, check for supply voltage and continuity along the pump motor feed under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
  5. If the fuse, wiring, and connector pass, follow the manufacturer's procedure to test the pump motor and ABS module output.

Common fixes

  • Replace a blown ABS pump supply fuse after checking for a short or overload.
  • Repair damaged or broken pump supply wiring.
  • Clean and secure the pump connector or repair damaged terminals.
  • Repair or replace a failed pump motor or ABS hydraulic control unit if testing confirms the fault.

Can I keep driving?

Braking remains available, but ABS, traction control, or stability control may be limited or unavailable. Drive cautiously, leave extra stopping distance, and avoid slippery roads or hard braking until the fault is repaired.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
