What it means
The ABS module monitors the left rear outlet valve, which releases hydraulic pressure from that wheel. It sets this code when the valve circuit or operation does not respond as expected.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The ABS hydraulic unit uses a left rear outlet valve to release pressure from that wheel during ABS or stability-control operation. The ABS module monitors the valve’s electrical circuit and response, and stores C0019 when the left rear outlet control does not behave as expected.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Outlet valve coil failure
- Valve stuck or contaminated
- Damaged wiring or connector
- ABS module fault
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Read ABS-module codes and freeze-frame data to see when the left rear outlet-control fault occurred and whether related wheel or supply faults are present.
- Inspect the left rear outlet-valve connector and harness for corrosion, loose pins, chafing, or damage that could interrupt its circuit.
- Check the ABS supply voltage and grounds, since a power or ground problem can affect valve control.
- Use the manufacturer’s diagnostic procedure to test the left rear outlet-valve circuit for continuity and shorts.
- If the wiring checks out, test the valve coil and commanded response to distinguish a failed coil from a valve that is sticking.
- Consider an ABS module fault only after the left rear valve, wiring, connectors, power, and grounds have passed their checks.
Common fixes
- Repair damaged wiring or clean and secure the left rear outlet-valve connector.
- Correct an ABS power or ground connection fault.
- Replace the failed left rear outlet-valve coil or valve as indicated by testing.
- Repair or replace the ABS hydraulic unit if the valve is stuck internally.
- Repair the ABS module only if its output remains faulty after other causes are ruled out.
Can I keep driving?
Normal braking may remain, but ABS and stability control can be unavailable, so the wheels may lock more readily during hard braking or on slippery roads. Drive cautiously and have the brake system checked promptly; stop if braking feels abnormal or a brake warning appears.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
