What it means
Fault on the driver seat belt warning indicator (lamp/icon in cluster).
At a glance
- Usually lights the airbag (SRS) or body-system warning light
How it works
The driver seatbelt indicator is the lamp or display that tells the driver about seatbelt status. The restraint control module monitors the indicator circuit and sets B00D0 when it detects an electrical fault affecting the driver’s indicator, such as an open, short, or failed display element.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Failed driver seatbelt indicator lamp or display
- Open or short in indicator wiring
- Loose or corroded connector
- Fault in the restraint control module
Symptoms
- Warning light or symbol related to the affected system
- Comfort or safety function impaired
How to diagnose it
- Confirm B00D0 with a scan tool that accesses the restraint module and note any other indicator or seatbelt-status codes.
- Observe the driver seatbelt warning indicator during the vehicle’s normal startup check and when the driver belt is latched and unlatched, as appropriate.
- Inspect the instrument-cluster display and accessible indicator connectors and wiring for damage, loose connections, or corrosion.
- Following the manufacturer’s procedure, test the driver indicator circuit for opens, shorts, and continuity between the restraint module and display.
- Check the module’s indicator command and circuit response with a scan tool, where supported, and compare results with the manufacturer’s diagnostic information.
- If the indicator wiring and display pass, verify restraint-module power, ground, and connections before suspecting the module.
Common fixes
- Repair a loose or corroded driver indicator connector.
- Repair an open or short in the driver seatbelt indicator wiring.
- Repair or replace a failed driver seatbelt warning lamp or instrument display, as applicable.
- Correct a verified restraint-module power or ground fault.
- Replace or reprogram the restraint control module only if diagnosis confirms an internal fault.
Can I keep driving?
The seatbelt indicator may not reliably warn you, even if the belt itself still latches. Wear the driver belt on every trip and get the warning-system fault checked soon; do not use the light as proof that the belt is secured.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
