What is the Nissan Primastar?
The Primastar is a mid-sized van for commercial use, with passenger-carrying versions also available. It gives businesses a van option for carrying people or goods, and forms part of Nissan’s European commercial-vehicle range.
There are two generations: the first, X83, ran from 2002 to 2014; the second, X82, from 2021 to 2026. The second generation returned the Primastar name to Nissan’s van range.
Engines and power
EU registration figures from 2010 to 2025 cover 2.0- to 2.5-litre engines and power from 66 kW (90 PS) to 125 kW (170 PS). Diesel versions make up much of the listed range, alongside petrol and other fuel categories. A 2.0-litre diesel producing 110 kW (150 PS) led EU registrations in 2024 and 2025.
UK listings cover 2.0- to 2.5-litre diesels. French listings show 2.0-litre diesels producing 66 kW (90 PS) to 84 kW (114 PS).
Fuel consumption
The lowest listed EU figure is 6.8 L/100 km on WLTP. France’s lowest listed figure is 6.5 L/100 km on NEDC, while the UK listing gives 8 L/100 km on NEDC. WLTP and NEDC use different test procedures, so the results are not directly comparable.
European fuel consumption figures may use either WLTP or NEDC, depending on the market and model year.
