Rear brake disc screws may fail
In extreme salt environments, corrosion cracking may cause brake disc screws to fail. If 8 of 10 screws fail, braking at that wheel could be lost, increasing stopping distance. The affected screws will be replaced with a different material.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- REAR BRAKE DISCS MAY DETACH
- Defect
- On vehicles fitted with carbon ceramic brakes the stainless steel screws fixing the rotor to the metal bell may fail due to stress corrosion cracking if the vehicle has been used in extreme salt environments. The customer will experience a noise when a screw fails and the brake continues to be 100% effective. However if the affected disc was to lose 8 of the 10 screws there would be a loss of braking at that wheel. Although the maximum bolt failure worldwide has been 3 theoretically the concern could lead to an increase in stopping distance and a collision.
- Remedy
- Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the affected stainless steel screws with a screw of a different material that is not susceptible to stress corrosion cracking.
Brake rotor screws may fail

- Defect
- Automobili Lamborghini America LLC (Lamborghini) is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2010 Murcielago Coupes and Roadsters fitted with carbon ceramic brake discs. The stainless steel screws that secure the brake rotors may fail after being exposed to salty conditions.
- Consequence
- Failure of the securing screws may result in a reduction of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Lamborghini will notify owners, and dealers will replace the screws, free of charge. The safety recall began February 27, 2014. Owners may contact Lamborghini at 1-866-681-6276. The manufacturer's numbers for this campaign are L82X-R.01.13 (Model Year 2006 Murcielago Coupe and Roadster), and LB82X-R.02.13 for the MY2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 Murcielago Coupe and Roadster.

Fuel pump bracket welds may fail and cause a leak
Fuel surge and vibration may cause welds on the fuel pump support bracket to fail, leaking fuel onto the floor and possibly causing a fire if an external heat source is present. The fuel tank will be replaced.
Official DVSA recall text
- Component
- FUEL MAY LEAK
- Defect
- It is possible due to fuel surge and vehicle vibration that the spot welds on the fuel pump support bracket within the fuel tank may fail. This can result in a small fuel leak onto the floor and if an external heat source is present then this could result in a fire.
- Remedy
- Recall affected vehicles and replace the fuel tank.
Fuel pump support welds may detach
Welds holding the fuel pump support inside the tank may detach and cause a fuel leak. Fuel leaking near an ignition source could cause a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel tank free of charge.

- Defect
- LAMBORGHINI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2008 MURCIELAGO AND MURCIELAGO ROADSTER VEHICLES. THE WELDS HOLDING THE FUEL PUMP SUPPORT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK COULD DETACH. THIS SITUATION MAY RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK.
- Consequence
- FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL TANK FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 28, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LAMBORGHINI AT 1-912-409-5634 OR 1-508-808-9562.

- Component
- STEERING:COLUMN
- Defect
- CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE TORQUE APPLIED TO THE JOINT SCREW BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING COLUMN WAS NOT CERTIFIED.
- Consequence
- IMPROPER INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN THE ENDANGERING OF THE STEERING FUNCTIONS.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL INSPECT EVERY AFFECTED VEHICLE AND, IF NECESSARY, ADJUST THE STEERING SHAFT TO MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATIONS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN OCTOBER 20, 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT LAMBORGHINI AT 1-516-829-8694.

Steering column coupling may separate
The lower steering column coupling may have too much clearance and could separate from the steering rack input shaft, increasing crash risk. Dealers will adjust the clearance if needed and retighten the locking bolt free of charge.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR
- Defect
- ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT COUPLING MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ONTO THE INPUT SHAFT OF THE STEERING RACK WITH TOO MUCH CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE COUPLING AND THE STEERING RACK INPUT SHAFT HOUSING.
- Consequence
- AS A RESULT, THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT COUPLING COULD SEPARATE FROM THE INPUT SHAFT OF THE STEERING RACK, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL ADJUST, IF NECESSARY, THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT COUPLING AND THE STEERING RACK INPUT SHAFT HOUSING, AND RE-TIGHTEN THE COUPLING LOCKING BOLT. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 1, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT LAMBORGHINI AT 1-781-788-0600.
