  1. Brake corrosion may reduce braking performance

Reported August 28, 2012Model years 2007–2008DVSA recall R/2012/090349,884 vehicles affected

Incorrect brake fluid may corrode the ABS module and cause gel to affect a valve, increasing brake pedal travel and potentially reducing braking performance. Dealers will inspect the fluid, replace it and the reservoir cap where specified, and update the owner's manual.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
    BRAKING EFFICIENCY MAY BE AFFECTED
    Defect
Incorrect type of brake fluid installed at production could cause internal corrosion of the ABS module. This corrosion can lead to a gel build up inside the module which may affect the closing motion of one of the valves. There will be no external loss of fluid or reduction in fluid level but it is possible the driver could feel excessive brake pedal travel. In some circumstances there may be reduced braking performance.
    Remedy
Inspection of the brake fluid using a scan tool. Drain and replace the fluid and replace the brake fluid reservoir cap (All models except Captiva & Epica/Tosca). Erase ''DOT 3'' text from the customers Owner's Manual (All models except Captiva & Epica/Tosca). Add information regarding the use of DOT 4 brake fluid.
  2. Low-beam or daytime running lights may fail

Reported October 16, 2007Model years 2005–2006NHTSA campaign 07V482000144 vehicles affected

A melted wiring harness splice pack may disable the low-beam headlamps or daytime running lights, reducing vehicle visibility and increasing crash risk. Dealers will change the headlamp low-beam splicing and separate it from the splice pack.

    Component
    EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
    Defect
ON CERTAIN VEHICLES LOCATED IN GUAM AND SAIPAN, THE HEADLAMP LOW BEAM OR DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT (DRL) FUNCTION MAY BE INOPERATIVE DUE TO A MELTED SPLICE PACK (S201) ON THE IP HARNESS.
    Consequence
INADEQUATE LIGHTING COULD REDUCE VISIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE INCREASING THE RICK OF A CRASH.
    Remedy
DEALERS WILL CHANGE THE HEADLAMP LOW BEAM SPLICING TYPE AND SEPARATE IT FROM SPLICE PACK 201 TO PROTECT HOUSING MELTING DUE TO POTENTIAL POOR CONTACT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 2, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GM DAEWOO AT 1-671-648-8453.

  3. Front seat belt buckle may jam or fail to latch

Reported July 20, 2007Model years 2006–2007NHTSA campaign 07V32800078 vehicles affected

A buckle component may break and remain inside the buckle, preventing the tongue from latching or causing the release button to stick. An occupant may be unable to use or unlatch the belt, increasing injury risk in a crash. Dealers will replace the front buckles.

    Official NHTSA recall text
    Component
    SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY
    Defect
CERTAIN VEHICLES LOCATED IN GUAM AND SAIPAN WERE BUILT WITH A SEAT BELT BUCKLE WITH AN IMPROPER ULTRASONIC WELD OF THE SPRING RIB AND FIXATION RIB OF BUCKLE UNDERCOVER IN BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS. A SPRING RIB OR FIXATION RIB COULD BREAK AND REMAIN INSIDE THE BUCKLE, AND THE SEAT BELT TONGUE MAY NOT BE INSERTED INTO THE BUCKLE, OR THE PUSH BUTTON MAY BECOME STUCK, RESULTING IN AN OCCUPANT NOT BEING ABLE TO UNLATCH THE BUCKLE.
    Consequence
THESE BUCKLE MALFUNCTIONS COULD PREVENT A PERSON FROM USING THE SEAT BELT SYSTEM, AND RISK OF INJURY TO AN UNBELTED PERSON IN A CRASH WOULD BE INCREASED.
    Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 2, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT GM DAEWOO AT 1-671-648-8453.
    Notes
CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.
  4. Brake lights may stay on

Reported July 18, 2005Model years 2003–2004DVSA recall R/2005/0558,946 vehicles affected

The brake light switch may become misadjusted, leaving the brake lights on when the brake is not applied, including when the ignition is off. This could discharge the battery. A modified brake lamp switch will be fitted.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
POSSIBILITY THAT BRAKE LIGHTS MAY STAY ON
    Defect
The brake light switch may become maladjusted if an upward force is inadvertently applied to the brake pedal. This may cause the brake lights to remain illuminated without the brake being applied. If ignored this condition may result in the vehicle being driven with the brake lights permanently illuminated. Also if affected the brake lights may remain illuminated with the vehicle ignition switched off which may result in a discharged battery.
    Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and fit a modified brake lamp switch.
