What it means
A receiving module detected implausible data from drive motor control module D. Torque, speed or current values fail plausibility checks and are rejected.
How it works
Drive motor control module D manages a drive motor and reports operating data such as torque, speed, or current to other controllers. U059D is set when a receiving module judges data from controller D implausible and rejects it; the code does not by itself prove the motor is faulty.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Module internal fault or sensor input drift
- Software version mismatch after replacement
- Gateway module routing CAN messages incorrectly
Symptoms
- Multiple warning lights may illuminate
- Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
- Specific functions inoperative depending on module
- Diagnostic tools may show communication faults
How to diagnose it
- Scan every module and save freeze-frame data to identify the reporting module and check for related drive-motor, inverter, or network codes.
- Check the 12-volt supply and grounds for controller D, since unstable module power can corrupt reported values or communication.
- Inspect controller D's accessible connectors and harness for damage, corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.
- Review live data for motor D's reported torque, speed, and current alongside related vehicle and motor status values, looking for dropouts or contradictions.
- If controller D or the gateway was recently replaced or updated, verify software compatibility and required configuration.
- If the code returns, test the network path and controller D's inputs and outputs according to the manufacturer's procedure before condemning the controller.
Common fixes
- Repair damaged wiring or clean and secure controller D's connector and ground.
- Correct a weak 12-volt supply or ground fault affecting the controller.
- Update or configure a replaced controller or gateway to the required vehicle software.
- Replace drive motor control module D only after its power, network, and motor data have been checked.
Can I keep driving?
If the vehicle shows reduced power, drive-system warnings, or unpredictable propulsion, stop safely and arrange diagnosis before continuing. Invalid motor D data can cause the vehicle to limit drive output or disable part of the propulsion system.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
