OBD-II fault code

U0095: Vehicle Communication Bus H (+) Low

What it means

A fault is detected on the positive conductor of vehicle communication bus H; the code descriptor specifies a low condition. Which functions are affected depends on the vehicle’s network design.

How it works

Bus H's positive conductor works with its negative conductor to carry messages among the network's control modules. U0095 indicates the positive conductor is detected at a lower level than expected, which can disrupt bus H communication.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Short to ground or damaged bus H positive wire
  2. Loose or corroded connector
  3. A module or gateway fault

Symptoms

  • Communication faults in modules using bus H
  • Warning lights or messages
  • Functions relying on bus H may be unavailable

How to diagnose it

  1. Scan all modules for bus H communication codes and identify which modules are missing or reporting related faults.
  2. Review freeze-frame or event data and live bus H status to see when the positive-line low condition occurs and which modules are affected.
  3. With power isolated as directed by the manufacturer, inspect bus H positive wiring and connectors for shorts to ground, chafing, corrosion, or poor pin contact.
  4. Test the positive conductor for an unintended short to ground and check continuity through suspect wiring using the manufacturer's procedure.
  5. If the harness passes, isolate bus H modules and the gateway as directed to identify a unit pulling the positive line low.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure a loose or corroded bus H connector.
  • Repair damaged bus H positive wiring or insulation causing a short to ground.
  • Repair or replace faulty connector terminals on the bus H positive circuit.
  • Repair or replace a module or gateway confirmed to be pulling bus H positive low.

Can I keep driving?

Bus H dependent functions may be unavailable, so whether driving is safe depends on which modules use that network. Avoid driving if safety-related systems are affected or their operation is uncertain.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
