What it means
The voltage B feedback of the electric A/C compressor motor does not match the commanded value within tolerance.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The hybrid/EV control system monitors voltage feedback B from the electric A/C compressor motor and compares it with the commanded operating value. P2D41 sets when that feedback is outside the expected range, without specifically identifying a low or high condition; drift or a resistive connection can cause the mismatch.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Voltage feedback drifted
- High-resistance contact in connector
Symptoms
- A/C warning or check-engine light
- Reduced or no cabin cooling
- A/C may switch off intermittently
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check the compressor command, voltage B feedback, and whether the A/C shut off when the fault set.
- Inspect the compressor's accessible voltage B connector and harness for looseness, corrosion, chafing, or heat damage.
- Check whether voltage B feedback changes smoothly as the compressor command changes, using scan data and the vehicle's supported test procedure.
- Test the voltage B feedback circuit and connector for excessive resistance or intermittent contact according to the wiring diagram.
- If the circuit and connections meet the manufacturer's specification, test the compressor feedback or control electronics for drift.
Common fixes
- Secure a loose voltage B connector and clean or repair corroded terminals.
- Repair damaged voltage B wiring or a high-resistance connection.
- Replace a faulty voltage B feedback component if it is separately serviceable.
- Replace the compressor or its control electronics if testing confirms an internal feedback fault.
Can I keep driving?
You can generally drive if the vehicle operates normally, but cabin cooling may be weak or stop unexpectedly. If the A/C system warning is accompanied by other hybrid-system warnings or reduced vehicle power, follow the vehicle's instructions and limit the trip.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
