OBD-II fault code

P2752: Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor C Circuit Intermittent

What it means

The third intermediate shaft speed sensor signal jumps or drops out intermittently. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

Intermediate shaft speed sensor C reads rotation of the transmission’s third monitored intermediate shaft by sending pulses from a tone wheel. P2752 sets when the module detects that this signal drops out or jumps intermittently, rather than remaining consistently absent.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Sensor connector not fully seated
  2. Harness chafed against transmission housing
  3. Connector with intermittent contact under vibration

Symptoms

  • Check-engine or transmission warning light on
  • Intermittent harsh or delayed shifts
  • Speedometer or gear indication may behave erratically
  • Transmission may enter limp mode

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and review live sensor C speed readings to see when the signal drops out and whether other transmission speed readings remain steady.
  2. Inspect sensor C's connector for incomplete engagement, moisture, corrosion or pins that have pushed back.
  3. Follow the sensor C harness along the transmission housing and look for chafing, pinching or heat damage.
  4. With live data displayed, gently move the harness and connector to see whether sensor C's reading cuts in and out.
  5. Test sensor C and its wiring under the manufacturer's procedure to locate an intermittent connection or sensor fault.

Common fixes

  • Fully seat and secure the sensor C connector.
  • Clean or repair corroded or damaged connector terminals.
  • Repair and secure a harness chafed against the transmission housing.
  • Replace sensor C if its signal remains intermittent after the connector and harness are sound.

Can I keep driving?

Keep driving to a minimum if shifts become harsh or delayed, the speed or gear display flickers, or limp mode occurs. A signal dropout can disrupt shifting without warning, so avoid heavy loads and stop if the transmission slips or loses drive.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
