What it means
The third intermediate shaft speed sensor reading is implausible against expected speed from gear ratio and input shaft speed.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Intermediate shaft speed sensor C measures the third intermediate shaft's rotation and sends pulses to the transmission control module. P2750 sets when the reported speed is implausible compared with the expected relationship to gear ratio and input shaft speed, which can point to damaged tone wheel teeth, sensor air gap, or sensor drift.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Damaged tone wheel teeth produce missing pulses
- Sensor air gap drift
- Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Symptoms
- Check-engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh or delayed shifts
- Speedometer or gear indication may behave erratically
- Transmission may enter limp mode
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and compare live sensor C speed with input shaft speed and the selected gear to identify when the readings diverge.
- Inspect sensor C's connector and harness for damage, corrosion, or a loose connection that could distort its signal.
- Check live sensor C data during steady operation for dropouts or speed values that do not track changes in shaft speed.
- Test sensor C and its circuit using the wiring diagram and manufacturer's specifications, including the specified air gap check where applicable.
- If the circuit and sensor test correctly, inspect the tone wheel for damaged or missing teeth.
Common fixes
- Repair loose, corroded, or damaged sensor C wiring and connector terminals.
- Correct sensor C's mounting or air gap to the manufacturer's specification.
- Replace sensor C if its output drifts outside specification.
- Repair or replace a tone wheel with damaged teeth.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid hard acceleration and towing because implausible sensor C speed can cause harsh shifts or limp mode. Stop driving if the transmission slips, shifts unpredictably, or loses drive.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
