OBD-II fault code

P2667: Fuel Shutoff Valve B Control Circuit High

What it means

Voltage on the secondary fuel shutoff valve control line is above the expected window. Typical causes are a short to battery or an open solenoid coil.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The controller operates fuel shutoff valve B through an electrical control circuit. This code sets when the monitored circuit voltage is higher than expected, commonly because the control wire is shorted to battery voltage or the valve coil is open.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Control wire shorted to B+
  2. Open solenoid coil
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check for related fuel-shutoff codes before clearing them.
  2. Inspect valve B's connector and wiring for damage, loose pins, corrosion, or contact with a battery-voltage source.
  3. Disconnect the valve as directed and check its coil for an open circuit against the manufacturer's specification.
  4. Test the control wire for a short to battery voltage and check continuity through the circuit.
  5. If the valve and wiring pass, test the controller connector and output using the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Repair loose, corroded, or damaged terminals at fuel shutoff valve B.
  • Repair an open in the control wire or wiring shorted to battery voltage.
  • Replace valve B if its coil is open.
  • Repair a confirmed controller connector or driver fault.

Can I keep driving?

The vehicle may seem to run normally, but valve B may not respond correctly when fuel shutoff is commanded. Arrange prompt diagnosis and do not drive if there is a fuel smell or visible leak.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
