OBD-II fault code

P25EB: Supercharger Disconnect Clutch Circuit Range/Performance

What it means

The supercharger clutch control current does not match the commanded value within tolerance. Either coil resistance has drifted or the driver feedback is implausible.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The supercharger disconnect clutch circuit carries the command current that engages or releases the clutch. The module compares the circuit response with the commanded value; this range/performance code sets when the current or feedback is implausible or outside its expected range, without specifying a simple high- or low-voltage fault.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Coil resistance increased due to thermal damage
  2. High-resistance contact in the clutch connector
  3. Sensor element aged beyond calibration window

Symptoms

  • Reduced engine performance or boost
  • Check-engine light may illuminate

How to diagnose it

  1. Check freeze-frame data and clutch command/current feedback to identify when the circuit response fell outside its expected range.
  2. Inspect the clutch connector and nearby harness for heat damage, corrosion, loose terminals, or chafing that could add resistance.
  3. Measure clutch coil resistance and compare it with the manufacturer's specification, checking for a coil that has drifted with thermal damage.
  4. Check voltage drop and continuity through the clutch wiring and connections while operating the clutch under the manufacturer's procedure.
  5. If wiring and coil measurements are within specification, test the clutch feedback element and module driver for implausible readings.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure a high-resistance clutch connector or terminal.
  • Repair damaged or chafed clutch wiring.
  • Replace a thermally damaged clutch coil that is outside the manufacturer's specification.
  • Replace a faulty clutch feedback element or control driver if circuit tests isolate the fault there.

Can I keep driving?

If the vehicle drives normally, avoid relying on full supercharger performance and arrange diagnosis soon. Reduced boost can affect acceleration, so avoid overtaking or other situations that require strong acceleration.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
