What it means
Same as P2370 with the control line shorted to supply. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
Fuel volume regulator B is an ECU-controlled valve that meters fuel in the high-pressure system. P2373 sets when the ECU detects excessive voltage in regulator B's control circuit, such as when its control wire is shorted to battery supply or another powered circuit.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Control line shorted to battery or supply
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Hard starting or no-start
- Loss of power
- Poor acceleration
How to diagnose it
- Review freeze-frame data and related codes to see whether the fault coincided with starting difficulty, low power, or abnormal rail pressure.
- Inspect regulator B's harness and connector for pinched insulation, moisture, corrosion, or contact with a B+ wire.
- Using the wiring diagram and manufacturer's procedure, test the control wire for a short to supply.
- Check connector pins and circuit continuity for corrosion, poor terminal contact, or a pushed-back pin.
- If the wiring is sound, test regulator B's solenoid and control response to the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Repair a pinched or chafed control wire that is contacting a powered circuit.
- Clean or repair corroded, loose, or damaged connector terminals at regulator B.
- Replace regulator B if testing confirms an internal electrical fault.
- Recheck fuel-pressure operation and repair any separately confirmed pump or pressure fault.
Can I keep driving?
Limit driving and avoid hard acceleration because incorrect fuel metering can cause hesitation or sudden power loss. If the engine is hard to start or power loss makes traffic unsafe, stop and arrange repair.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
