What it means
Reductant Injection Air Pump Control Circuit Low: the control-circuit voltage is below the expected range. This valve doses reductant (DEF/AdBlue) into the exhaust for SCR NOx reduction.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
The reductant injection air pump control circuit operates the air pump used by some SCR systems to help deliver DEF into the exhaust. The control module monitors the circuit voltage while commanding the pump. P2060 sets when that voltage is lower than expected, which can prevent correct reductant delivery.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Short to ground
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Harness chafing through insulation
Symptoms
- Check engine light or NOx warning on
- AdBlue/DEF level or quality warning
- Possible no-start countdown after ignore period
- Failed emissions inspection (NOx)
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check for related SCR or reductant pump codes to establish when the low circuit reading occurred.
- Inspect the air pump connector and nearby harness for corrosion, moisture, damaged insulation or wires rubbed through to ground.
- Check connector fit and terminal condition, including whether any pin is pushed back or has poor contact.
- With the manufacturer's wiring diagram, measure the control circuit as directed while commanding the pump and look for a short to ground.
- If the wiring checks out, test the air pump and its control device using the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure corroded or loose air pump connector terminals.
- Repair chafed control-circuit wiring and insulate it from ground contact.
- Replace a damaged connector or harness section.
- Replace the air pump or its control device if testing confirms it is faulty.
Can I keep driving?
The vehicle may drive normally, but the SCR system may not reduce NOx correctly. Limit unnecessary driving and address the warning promptly, since some vehicles can begin a no-start countdown if the emissions fault persists.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
