What it means
The supply voltage feeding the IMRC actuator on bank 2 is below the lower limit — typically a fuse, relay, or harness fault on the supply rail.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
The IMRC actuator on bank 2 controls intake runner position to adjust airflow for different engine operating conditions. The module monitors voltage on the bank 2 actuator's power feed; P201C sets when that supply falls below its operating threshold and the actuator may not be able to move the runners reliably.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Blown supply fuse
- Open or damaged supply wiring
- Faulty relay or poor relay connection
- Connector corrosion or loose terminals
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Reduced engine power or sluggish acceleration
- Hesitation or uneven engine response
How to diagnose it
- Capture freeze-frame data and check for related IMRC or system voltage codes that could point to a shared supply problem.
- Inspect the bank 2 actuator supply fuse and the fuse contacts for an open element, corrosion, or overheating.
- Examine bank 2 supply wiring and connector terminals for breaks, chafing, moisture, or looseness.
- Measure the supply at the bank 2 actuator during operation and compare it with the manufacturer's specification.
- If the supply is low, test the relay and voltage drop across its connections under load, then isolate the affected part of the feed.
Common fixes
- Replace a failed bank 2 IMRC supply fuse after checking why it opened.
- Repair damaged or open bank 2 actuator supply wiring.
- Clean or secure corroded or loose bank 2 connector terminals.
- Replace a faulty supply relay or repair its poor connection when testing identifies it as the source of low voltage.
Can I keep driving?
A short, gentle drive may be possible if the engine is running smoothly, but reduced power or hesitation can affect safe acceleration. Avoid demanding driving and have the bank 2 supply fault addressed soon to limit performance and emissions problems.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
