What it means
The generator inverter power supply A circuit voltage is above the expected range.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Supply circuit A powers the generator inverter, and the control module monitors that supply voltage. P0E11 sets when the voltage rises above the expected range, which may indicate an upstream regulator problem or a wire shorted to a higher-voltage source.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Upstream regulator overvoltage
- Wire shorted to higher voltage
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Hybrid/EV system warning light may turn on
- Reduced power or charging performance
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and scan for related charging or inverter codes to identify when supply A voltage became high.
- Check live supply A voltage, where available, against the manufacturer's specification and note whether the high reading persists.
- Following the high-voltage safety procedure, inspect supply A wiring, fuse connections, and connectors for damage, corrosion, or contact with a higher-voltage circuit.
- With the manufacturer's wiring diagram, test circuit A for a short to another voltage source and check connector contact condition.
- If the circuit wiring passes, test the upstream regulator and supply source according to the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Repair wiring shorted to a higher-voltage source.
- Clean or repair corroded or loose supply A connector contacts.
- Repair damaged supply A wiring or fuse connections.
- Repair the upstream regulator if testing confirms overvoltage.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid unnecessary driving if hybrid power or charging is reduced, and stop safely if propulsion becomes unreliable. Continued overvoltage can cause the inverter to restrict or shut down hybrid operation.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
