OBD-II fault code

P0D2F: Drive Motor A Inverter Voltage Sensor A Circuit Low

What it means

The signal from drive motor A inverter voltage sensor A is below the expected electrical range. The reading may be unreliable.

At a glance

  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Drive motor A inverter voltage sensor A sends a voltage-related signal used to control inverter A and drive motor A. This low-circuit code sets when the signal falls below its expected electrical range, which can make the inverter voltage information unreliable.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Signal wire shorted to ground
  2. Internal sensor short
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • EV/hybrid system warning light on
  • Reduced motor power or torque
  • Possible limp mode or vehicle shutdown

How to diagnose it

  1. Capture freeze-frame data and live sensor A readings, along with related inverter voltage data, before clearing the code.
  2. Inspect sensor A's connector and harness for a signal wire touching ground, corrosion, damaged insulation, or terminals with poor contact.
  3. Check the sensor circuit's reference and ground connections using the wiring diagram and the manufacturer's procedures.
  4. Test the signal wire for a short to ground and check connector continuity and terminal condition as specified for the vehicle.
  5. If the wiring and connector pass, test sensor A for an internal short and replace it only if it fails the specified checks.

Common fixes

  • Repair a signal wire shorted to ground.
  • Clean or repair corroded or loose sensor A connector terminals.
  • Repair a damaged ground or reference connection found during testing.
  • Replace drive motor A inverter voltage sensor A if it tests internally shorted.

Can I keep driving?

Reduced motor power, limp mode, or shutdown may occur, so avoid driving where a sudden loss of power would be dangerous. If the warning is severe or the vehicle's power becomes unreliable, stop safely and arrange assistance.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
