OBD-II fault code

P0A95: High Voltage Fuse A

What it means

The control module monitors the high-voltage circuit associated with fuse A and sets this code when it detects a fault in that circuit. The code does not by itself confirm that the fuse has failed.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Fuse A is part of a high-voltage circuit monitored by the hybrid control system. P0A95 means the circuit associated with that fuse has an abnormal condition; the code alone does not confirm the fuse is open, since a downstream wiring or component fault can produce the same indication.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Open or failed high-voltage fuse
  2. High-voltage circuit fault

Symptoms

  • Check-engine or hybrid-system warning light
  • Hybrid system may not start or operate
  • Reduced or unavailable electric drive

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and check for related hybrid, battery, inverter, and high-voltage circuit codes to identify what stopped operating.
  2. Note whether the hybrid system starts and whether electric drive is available, since this helps establish the scope of the circuit fault.
  3. With the high-voltage system isolated using the manufacturer's safety procedure, have fuse A and its accessible connections inspected for an open fuse, damage, or overheating.
  4. Test the high-voltage circuit associated with fuse A for wiring or component faults using the vehicle-specific procedure.
  5. Replace the fuse only after the cause of the circuit fault is identified and corrected, then verify the circuit operates as specified.

Common fixes

  • Repair a loose or damaged connection at the fuse A circuit.
  • Repair the downstream high-voltage wiring or component fault that caused the abnormal circuit condition.
  • Replace fuse A if testing confirms it is open and the underlying cause has been corrected.
  • Repair the relevant inverter or hybrid-system component if diagnostics locate the fault there.

Can I keep driving?

Do not rely on the vehicle for a trip if hybrid start or electric drive is unavailable, because propulsion may be reduced or the vehicle may not operate. High-voltage fuse and circuit work should be handled by a technician trained for the vehicle's high-voltage system.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
