What it means
The motor electronics coolant pump A control circuit reports a control circuit high condition. Power electronics cooling cannot be commanded reliably.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Motor electronics coolant pump A moves coolant through the inverter and related power electronics. P0A07 sets when the pump A control circuit signal is higher than expected, which can result from a control wire shorted to battery voltage or an open pump motor circuit.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Control wire shorted to B+
- Open pump motor
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Hybrid system or check-engine warning light on
- Possible reduced hybrid power
- Cooling fan may run more often
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and scan for related cooling-system codes to see whether pump A's electrical fault is accompanied by rising inverter temperature.
- Inspect the pump A connector and harness for loose or corroded pins, damaged insulation, or contact with a battery-positive feed.
- With the hybrid system made safe under manufacturer procedures, check the control wire for a short to B+ and verify continuity through the circuit.
- Test the pump A motor circuit for an open and compare results with the manufacturer's specification.
- If the wiring and pump pass, use the manufacturer's approved procedure to test the control output and commanded pump operation.
Common fixes
- Repair a pump A control wire shorted to battery voltage.
- Restore a damaged or corroded connector connection.
- Replace pump A if its motor circuit is open or it fails the specified test.
- Repair the control circuit connection if testing identifies a fault between the pump and module.
Can I keep driving?
Limit driving to reaching a safe place because pump A may not be controllable and power-electronics cooling can be lost. Stop if the hybrid system limits power or shows a temperature warning; continued operation can overheat the inverter.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
