OBD-II fault code

P0567: Cruise Control Resume Signal

What it means

Cruise Control Resume Input Circuit: an electrical fault is present in the circuit. This affects cruise-control operation.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The cruise-control resume switch sends a signal asking the control module to restore the previously set speed. P0567 sets when the resume input circuit has an electrical fault, so the module may not recognize that request.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Cruise control resume switch or stalk failed
  2. Open or short in switch wiring
  3. Loose or corroded connector
  4. Fault in the related control module

Symptoms

  • Cruise control may not resume the set speed
  • Cruise control may not engage or may stop working
  • Check-engine light may come on

How to diagnose it

  1. Check freeze-frame data and related cruise-control codes to see when the resume input fault was detected.
  2. Use scan-tool live data to confirm whether the resume status changes when the resume switch or stalk is operated.
  3. Inspect the resume switch, its connector, and the steering-column wiring for looseness, corrosion, chafing, or damage.
  4. Test the resume switch and its circuit for open, short, or intermittent faults using the vehicle wiring diagram.
  5. If the switch and wiring test correctly, check the related control module input and its power and grounds using the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Reconnect or clean a loose or corroded resume-switch connector.
  • Repair damaged or open wiring in the resume input circuit.
  • Replace a failed cruise-control resume switch or stalk.
  • Repair the related control module or its connections if testing isolates the fault there.

Can I keep driving?

You can generally drive without cruise control, but the previously set speed may not resume. Avoid relying on the resume function until the switch signal is repaired.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
