What it means
The PCM detected an open or electrical fault in the cylinder 11 injector A circuit. The code does not establish that the ECU disables the injector or that a misfire code will also set.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
The PCM controls and monitors the electrical circuit for injector A on cylinder 11. P0211 sets when that circuit appears open or electrically faulty, which can result from the injector winding, connector, or wiring; the code alone does not prove the injector is disabled.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Injector winding failed open
- Wiring or connector fault
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Rough running or engine misfire
- Reduced engine power
- Hard starting or stalling
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and scan for related cylinder 11 misfire or injector codes to establish when the circuit fault appears.
- Inspect the cylinder 11 injector A connector and harness for a poor fit, corrosion, broken wires, or damage along the route.
- Compare cylinder 11 injector circuit data with other injector circuits using a scan tool, if supported, to identify an outlier.
- With the circuit safely isolated as specified for the vehicle, test the injector winding and wiring continuity against the manufacturer's specification.
- Check the injector control circuit for an open or poor connection using the vehicle's wiring diagram and manufacturer test procedure.
- If the injector and wiring pass, investigate the PCM control side using the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure.
Common fixes
- Reconnect or repair a loose or corroded cylinder 11 injector A connector.
- Repair an open or damaged section of cylinder 11 injector wiring.
- Replace injector A on cylinder 11 if its winding fails the specified test.
- Repair a confirmed PCM control circuit fault.
Can I keep driving?
If the engine is running normally and the warning light is steady, drive only as needed to arrange diagnosis. Stop if it stalls or runs severely rough; ongoing misfire can damage the catalytic converter.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
