What it means
Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor B Circuit High: the signal voltage is above the expected range. Wheel-speed signals feed ABS, ESC, traction control and the speedometer.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Right front wheel speed sensor B provides wheel-speed information to the ABS module, which checks that its circuit signal stays within an expected range. This code sets when the B circuit voltage is too high, often because a wire is shorted to battery voltage or pinched against a powered source.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to battery
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Save the ABS freeze-frame data and compare right front sensor B live speed with the other wheel readings to confirm the affected corner.
- Inspect the right front B harness for pinching or insulation damage where it could touch a battery-positive source.
- Check the sensor B connector for corrosion, loose terminals, or evidence of an unintended powered connection.
- Test the B signal wire for a short to battery voltage and inspect supply wiring using the manufacturer's procedure.
- If the harness and connector pass, test sensor B and the ABS module input against the manufacturer's specification to locate the source of the high reading.
Common fixes
- Repair pinched or chafed right front sensor B wiring and route it away from powered conductors.
- Clean corroded connector pins and restore proper terminal contact.
- Replace damaged connector terminals or a wire shorted to battery voltage.
- Replace sensor B only if it fails testing after the circuit is verified.
Can I keep driving?
Limit driving because ABS and stability or traction control may be disabled, especially during emergency braking or on slippery roads. Have the high-voltage fault corrected promptly and avoid hard stops.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
