What it means
Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor B Circuit/Open: the circuit is open. Wheel-speed signals feed ABS, ESC, traction control and the speedometer.
At a glance
- Usually lights the ABS or stability-control warning light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Right front wheel speed sensor B sends wheel-rotation information to the ABS control module. This code sets when the module detects an open path in the right front B circuit, so it cannot receive the expected sensor signal.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Sensor wiring broken
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
- Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
How to diagnose it
- Save the ABS freeze-frame data and check live right front sensor B speed against the other wheels; a missing reading supports an open-circuit fault.
- Inspect the right front sensor B connector for a pin pushed back into its body, a loose fit, or visible damage.
- Follow the right front B harness from sensor to module and look for a broken conductor, damaged insulation, or a stressed section.
- With power isolated as specified by the manufacturer, test continuity through the sensor B circuit and check connector pin retention at both ends.
- If the wiring and terminals pass, test the sensor and ABS module connections according to the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure, including any suspected internal joint.
Common fixes
- Re-seat the pushed-back pin or secure the right front sensor B connector.
- Repair a broken section of the right front B harness and restore proper routing.
- Replace damaged connector terminals or the connector housing.
- Replace the sensor or repair an internal module connection only after circuit testing identifies the failed component.
Can I keep driving?
Drive cautiously because ABS and stability or traction control may not operate, and braking assistance may be reduced. Avoid hard stops and slippery roads, and seek prompt help if normal braking feels impaired.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
