OBD-II fault code

B0129: DC/AC Converter A High Voltage Power Outlet C Circuit/Open

What it means

The control module monitors the circuit for high-voltage power outlet C on DC/AC converter A. It sets this code when it detects an open circuit or loss of the expected electrical connection at that outlet.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the airbag (SRS) or body-system warning light

How it works

Outlet C on DC/AC converter A supplies alternating-current power from the vehicle’s high-voltage system to an external load. The control module checks the outlet C connection; this code sets when it detects an open circuit or loses the expected electrical path. High-voltage components can be dangerous even when the vehicle is switched off.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Outlet wiring open
  2. Pin pushed back out of connector body
  3. Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor

Symptoms

  • Warning light or symbol related to the affected system
  • Comfort or safety function impaired

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check for other converter or outlet codes that could indicate a shared supply or module fault.
  2. Stop using outlet C and inspect its exterior for damage, contamination, or a loose cover without opening the outlet or converter.
  3. Using the vehicle’s wiring information, have the outlet C connector checked for looseness, corrosion, or a pushed-back pin.
  4. Have the outlet C wiring checked for an open or damaged section using the manufacturer’s high-voltage safety and isolation procedure.
  5. If the external wiring and connector test correctly, have the converter’s outlet C internal connection checked for a failed joint according to the manufacturer’s procedure.

Common fixes

  • Remove debris or moisture from the outlet only as permitted by the vehicle instructions, and ensure its cover and connector seat correctly.
  • Repair or replace a damaged outlet C connector or terminal.
  • Repair an open in the outlet C wiring using the manufacturer-approved method.
  • Repair the converter’s internal outlet C connection if testing confirms a failed joint.
  • Replace or repair DC/AC converter A if its internal outlet circuit is defective.

Can I keep driving?

Do not use outlet C while it is faulty, and do not open or probe high-voltage parts yourself. The vehicle may still drive normally, but external power from this outlet can be unavailable; have high-voltage circuit work handled by a qualified technician.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
