Speed limit 50
Prohibitory and restriction signs

Speed limit 50

Do not exceed the speed shown, in kilometres per hour or, in the United Kingdom and United States, miles per hour.

Keep to or below the applicable limit from the point where it begins. Watch for signs that change or end it.

Poland’s B-33 and Germany’s 274-50 use a circular sign with a red border and a black speed figure. The UK’s 670V follows the same general design and displays miles per hour. The US R2-1 is a white rectangular sign with black Speed Limit wording and a figure in miles per hour.

How it looks in each country

Official sign in each country; the code is its number in the national rules. Signs that come in two directions show the left and the right version.

The United States and the United Kingdom sign speeds in miles per hour, so their signs show 50 mph (about 80 km/h).
