Motorway advance direction sign

Direction sign on the approach to a motorway exit.

This sign shows destinations reached through a motorway exit or junction ahead. It helps drivers choose their route and, where lane arrows are shown, the appropriate lane.

The main panel is usually rectangular, with destination names and arrows. Under the Vienna Convention, motorway advance direction signs have white lettering or symbols on a blue or green background.
