Reported July 17, 2002Model years 1998–2002DVSA recall R/2002/096746 vehicles affected

Air may become trapped in the brake fluid feed pipe and, in some circumstances, partly impair the primary brake circuit. Both feed hoses and the reservoir will be replaced with a revised assembly.

    Official DVSA recall text
    Component
AIR CAN ENTER PRIMARY CIRCUIT OF BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER
    Defect
The low pressure brake fluid feed pipe between the master cylinder and remote reservoir has the potential to trap air which may in certain circumstances cause partial failure of the primary brake circuit.
    Remedy
Recall affected vehicles and replace both brake fluid feed hoses and reservoir with a new assembly to a revised specification.
  2. Brake feed pipe may trap air

Reported July 15, 2002Model years 1999–2002NHTSA campaign 02V1870002,085 vehicles affected

Air trapped in the brake fluid feed pipe could enter the master cylinder, causing excessive pedal travel and partial failure of the primary brake circuit, which may increase crash risk. Dealers will replace both hoses and the brake fluid reservoir free of charge.

    Official NHTSA recall text
    Component
    SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
    Defect
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES AND LIMOUSINES, THE LOW PRESSURE BRAKE FLUID FEED PIPE BETWEEN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND REMOTE RESERVOIR HAS THE POTENTIAL TO TRAP OR RETAIN AIR.
    Consequence
THIS AIR COULD ENTER THE MASTER CYLINDER CAUSING EXCESSIVE PEDAL TRAVEL AND PARTIAL FAILURE OF THE PRIMARY CIRCUIT, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
    Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE BOTH HOSES AND BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 19, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT ROLLS-ROYCE AT 1-800-777-6923.

  3. Heated seat may reach an excessively high temperature

Reported June 4, 1999Model years 1999NHTSA campaign 99V139000639 vehicles affected

An incorrectly positioned thermostat may allow a heated seat surface to reach an unacceptably high temperature, potentially damaging objects in contact with the cushion. Dealers will install an additional temperature control for each heated seat.

    Official NHTSA recall text
    Component
    SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER
    Defect
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE THERMOSTAT REGULATING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HEATED SEATS WAS INCORRECTLY POSITIONED DURING ASSEMBLY. THIS INCORRECT POSITIONING CREATES THE POTENTIAL THAT THE SURFACE OF THE HEATED SEAT CAN REACH AN UNACCEPTABLY HIGH TEMPERATURE.
    Consequence
IN EXTREME CASES, THIS COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO ANY OBJECT IN CONTACT WITH THE SEAT CUSHION.
    Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL WITH EACH SEAT EQUIPPED WITH HEATING ELEMENTS.
