- Notes
- SYSTEM: WATER HEATER; HEATER CORE.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER AUTOMOBILES.
Heater core may rupture under pressure
Inadequate venting during engine overheating may allow pressure to build and rupture the heater core, releasing hot coolant and steam near the driver's legs. Coolant system pressure caps will be replaced with ones that have adequate venting capacity.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM:HEATER CORE
- Defect
- COOLING SYSTEM PRESSURES DURING OVERHEATED ENGINE OPERATION MAY EXCEED THE STRENGTH CAPABILITY OF CERTAIN COMPONENTS DUE TO INADEQUATE VENTING CAPACITY OF THE SYSTEM PRESSURE CAP.
- Consequence
- THE BUILDUP OF PRESSURE MAY CAUSE HEATER CORE TO RUPTUREAND DISCHARGE HOT COOLANT AND STEAM IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE DRIVERS LEGS.
- Remedy
- REPLACE ALL COOLANT SYSTEM PRESSURE CAPS WITH ONE HAVING ADEQUATE VENTING CAPACITY.
- Notes
- SYSTEM: COOLING SYSTEM/HEATER CORE.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS.
Driver's seat bracket may fail
The driver's seat adjuster bracket may fail from fatigue. If both front attachments fail, the seat back could move significantly rearward. The bracket will be replaced with a stronger version.

- FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
- Defect
- FUEL HOSES (5) IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT COULD DETERIORATE OVER TIME.
- Consequence
- FUEL LEAKAGE COULD OCCUR, RESULTING IN ENGINECOMPARTMENT FIRE.
- Remedy
- REPLACE FIVE FUEL HOSES/CLAMPS.
- Notes
- SYSTEM: FUEL HOSES.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS EQUIPPED WITH 1.4L ENGINE, MULTI-POINT FUELINJECTION AND CALIFORNIA EMISSION SYSTEMS.
Cruise control cable may disengage
An incorrect clip may let the accelerator cable disengage from the throttle, leaving it partly open while cruise control is in use and reducing acceleration control. A new cable clip will be installed.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES
- Defect
- A WRONG CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATOR CABLE CLIP WAS INSTALLED IN THE ASSEMBLY. THIS COULD ALLOW THE ACCELERATOR CABLE TO DISENGAGE FROM THE THROTTLE CONTROL. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE DISENGAGED ACCELERATOR CABLE CAUSES THE THROTTLE TO REMAIN PARTIALLY OPEN WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS IN USE AND RESULTS IN LOSS OF ACCELERATION CONTROL AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
- Remedy
- INSTALL NEW ACCELERATOR CABLE CLIP.
- Notes
- VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER WAGONS WITH CRUISE CONTROL. SYSTEM: CRUISE CONTROL CLIP.
Steering wheel may loosen

Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR
- Defect
- THE STEERING WHEEL COULD LOOSEN DUE TO INADEQUATE TIGHTENING OF THE WHEEL SHAFT NUT. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: LOOSENING OF THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD AFFECT THE STEERING CONTROL OF THE CAR AND MAY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
- Remedy
- PROPERLY TORQUE THE NUT AND ASSURE THAT IT IS RETAINED.
- Notes
- VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS AND WAGONS. SYSTEM: STEERING WHEEL SHAFT NUT:
Rear seat belt anchor bolts may not hold
The 12 mm spacers on the rear seat belt anchor bolts may reduce their load capacity, so the anchorages may not hold occupants in position during a crash. The 12 mm spacers will be replaced with 5 mm spacers.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- SEAT BELTS:REAR/OTHER
- Defect
- THE 12 MM SPACER USED ON THE REAR SEAT BELT ANCHORAGE BOLTS MAY AFFECT ANCHOR BOLT LOAD CAPACITY AND FAIL TO COMPLY WITH FMVSS 210, SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY ANCHORAGES. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: THE REAR OUTBOARD SEAT BELT ANCHORAGES MAY NOT MAINTAIN LOAD REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SPECIFIED TIME. THIS FAILURE MAY CAUSE THE SEAT BELT SYSTEM NOT TO RESTRAIN THE OCCUPANT IN POSITION IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR, CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES.
- Remedy
- REPLACE 12 MM ANCHOR BOLT SPACER WITH A 5MM SPACER.
- Notes
- VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER STATION WAGON AND SPORTWAGON. SYSTEM: REAR SEAT BELT ANCHOR BOLT/FMVSS 210.
