Water may cause windshield wiper motor failure
Water can leak past the cowl cover and reach the wiper motor, causing corrosion and failure. Reduced visibility in bad weather could lead to a crash. Dealers will install a new wiper motor cover.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR
- Defect
- THE PLASTIC COWL COVER WAS NOT SEALED TO THE BODY AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD. WATER CAN LEAK AND REACH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, CAUSING INTERNAL CORROSION AND FAILURE OF THE WIPER MOTOR.
- Consequence
- FAILURE OF THE WIPER MOTOR RESULTS IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY IN INCLEMENT WEATHER AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
- Remedy
- DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW WIPER MOTOR COVER.
- Notes

Cruise control cable may bind
The engine compartment cover can slip and cause the cruise control cable to bind, so the engine may not return to idle when cruise control is disengaged. Speed may not decrease as expected, increasing stopping distance. A bolt and washer will secure the cover and provide clearance.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Defect
- THE REAR ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER NEAR THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO MOTOR SLIPS, CAUSING THE SAFETY CLIP IN THE SERVO MOTOR ARM TO BIND DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE. IF THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE BINDS, THE ENGINE DOES NOT RETURN TO IDLE WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION IS DISENGAGED, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE SPEED NOT BEING REDUCED AS EXPECTED.
- Consequence
- WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED IS NOT REDUCED WHEN THE CRUISECONTROL IS DISENGAGED, STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES WHICH CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLEACCIDENT.
- Remedy
- INSTALL A BOLT AND WASHER ON THE REAR ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER TO PREVENT SLIPPING AND TO INSURE THE NECESSARY CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE SAFETY CLIP AND THE COVER.
- Notes
- SYSTEM: CRUISE CONTROL.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS.NOTE: PORSCHE CARS N.A. INC. ADVISES NOT TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM UNTILTHE CORRECTIVE ACTION IS ACCOMPLISHED.
Steering rack bolts may loosen
Over-tightened bolts may stretch and loosen, allowing the steering rack to shift, making steering less precise and potentially damaging the rack. The bolts will be replaced with stronger ones, and a damaged rack will also be replaced.
Official NHTSA recall text
- Component
- STEERING:RACK AND PINION:RACK
- Defect
- ONE OR MORE OF THE BOLTS MOUNTING THE STEERING RACK TO THE CHASSIS OF THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN STRETCHED, DUE TO OVER TORQUING IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, CAUSING SOME OF THE BOLTS TO LOOSEN.
- Consequence
- THE LOOSE MOUNTING BOLTS MAY ALLOW THE STEERING RACK TOSHIFT WHICH WOULD RESULT IN A NON-CENTERED STEERING WHEEL, LESS PRECISESTEERING CONTROL, AND DAMAGE TO THE STEERING RACK.
- Remedy
- REPLACE THE STEERING RACK BOLTS WITH BOLTS OF A HIGHER STRENGTH; REPLACE THE STEERING RACK IF IT IS DAMAGED.
- Notes
